Nicki Minaj’s Bubblegum Wig and Massive Bow Threw It Back to “Pink Friday” at the 2022 MTV VMAs — See Photos

On August 28, Queens-bred Nicki Minaj was awarded the Video Vanguard award at the 2022 MTV VMAs. The iconic award is well deserved for the rapper, who has given us hits such as “Anaconda,” “Itty Bitty Piggy,” and “Your Love” throughout the years. To accept the award, she performed a series of her hits, both new and old, with curled pink hair that makes me feel like it’s 2010 all over again. 

Any Barb knows that Nicki basically invented the color pink, so we weren’t shocked to see her decked out in her signature color from head to toe for her performance. This outfit screamed 2010 enough as it was with a bedazzled bodice covered with gems of various sizes. Her pink ombré flared skirt with pearl adornments reminded me of Disney Channel in the best way possible.

Her butt-length hair was styled into a slicked back half-up, half-down ponytail. If you thought the pink was done there, then think again. A baby pink bow was added to the base of her ponytail. This bubblegum pink hair is very much giving Pink Friday era, and we’re loving every inch of it.
