Selena Gomez served up New-Year’s-ready hairstyle inspiration all weekend long – without even realizing it. Much like Gomez, I recently joined the curtain bang crew, and although I’m loving the change, I still reach for the Rahua Beauty Smoothing Hair Balm from time to time to style my newly-cut fringe into a slicked-back updo. Gomez had done the same with her long bangs on December 10 while in attendance at the Saturday Night Live afterparty after sporting the half-up hairstyle for her guest star appearance on the comedy show hours prior. The bangs made a later side-swept appearance at the 16th annual CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute on December 11 for a night at the American Museum of Natural History.
Her first look offered soft volume from her loose ends down. Hairstylist Orlando Pita gave Gomez a cheeky, skit-ready ponytail accented by one strand of hair concealing the base of the ponytail —one you’d ought to take a toast to at midnight. She coordinated the half-up hairstyle with gold medium hoops and a pink off-the-shoulder knitted sweater from Valentino’s fall 2022 ready-to-wear collection.
Gomez’s liking for the Barbiecore trend had first been seen in July with her lavender-pink manicure. Now that we’re deep in sweater weather, the pink has shifted to her wardrobe, and Pita has created a fun, winter-perfect ponytail to accompany it.
