This week, our favorite celebs and influencers took to the red carpet in celebration of the 2023 iHeart Radio Music Awards. In addition to dazzling outfits and stunning glam, another one of the internet’s latest nail trends were spotted on tons of our beloved A-listers: “rich girl nails.” From Madison Beer to Nicole Scherzinger and Becky G, rich girl nails dominated the carpet, and manicurist to the stars, Tom Bachik, told Popsugar everything you need to nail this nail look.
Whether they were paired with Beer’s extravagant, chain-mail gown or Scherzinger’s striking pink ensemble, rich girl nails accompanied several of the women’s award-show moments with their classic yet elevated look. Bachik himself coined the term “rich girl nails” after creating the look on several of his celeb clients from JLo to Hailee Steinfeld. At it’s core, the look centers around nail extensions in a soft, tapered square shape topped with a light, beige color.
When it comes to truly nailing this luxurious look, Bachik says, “it’s all in the color choice.” “[The] color is a creamy, full-coverage nude,” he explains, “playing homage to the greige inspiration originally seen with Chanel.” Bachik himself likes to use one shade darker or one lighter than the client’s skin color to ensure the look is minimal yet deliberate. And, of course, a clear, shiny top coat is essential to giving your mani that A-list level shimmer.
