These Top Food Allergens Could Be Hiding in Your Beauty Products

Oat milk and cauliflower pizza and the like are all readily available in stores. Since many Americans have allergies to dairy, nuts, gluten and more, we tend to be very careful about what we put in our bodies. However, we’re a little less scrupulous about what goes on our skin

For example, I have a soy intolerance and swap all soy sauce with coconut aminos to prevent pain and discomfort. However, when I looked closer at my skin-care products, a few were riddled with soy without me even realizing it.

YorkTest, which specializes in food sensitivity testing, recently compiled the top ten food ingredients found in cosmetic and skin-care products that could trigger allergies. Check your products against this list and make sure none of your personal allergens are hiding in plain sight.

Tied for first as the most common allergens seen in beauty products are sesame seed and milk. Followed by that is sunflower, apricot, avocado, soy, peanut, almond, peach and rice. If you have allergies to any of these ingredients, check your skin-care products to make sure you’re not slathering your face with your allergies unwittingly.
