The Bronzer Used to Sculpt Cillian Murphy’s “Oppenheimer” Cheekbones

Oppenheimer has easily been one of the most anticipated films of the year, and we’re eager to learn anything about what went in to making the masterpiece. Cillian Murphy’s portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer has been on all of our minds for quite some time, and his shocking appearance in the film is of much intrigue. If you’re wondering how Murphy’s haunting, hollow look came to be, the actor’s makeup artist just revealed the bronzer behind Murphy’s striking cheekbones.

The bronzer behind Murphy’s incredible cheekbones

When you look at Cillian Murphy, his bone structure is one of the first things you notice, and his already prominent cheekbones are even more on display during his performance in Oppenheimer. Murphy’s groomer, Gareth Bromell, revealed that the secret to creating an extra-sullen, sculpted face on Murphy was Tom Ford’s Soleil Glow Bronzer ($70).

Bromell opted for the Ford bronzer while on the set of Oppenheimer as the product’s soft, hydrating formula allows for a look that is sculpted without appearing to be “made up “at all, which is perfect for both the essence of Oppenheimer’s look and the time period. The soft-focus blurring agent in the product’s formula helps to ensure a “seamless, undetectable” finish, so it’s no surprise why Bromell swore by the bronzer for snatching Murphy’s cheeks in an understated way.
