‘Tis the season for a lot of things, and for many of our favorite celebrities, one such thing seems to be major hair transformations. From Rihanna’s honey blonde moment to Emily Ratajkowski going auburn and so many more, there’s something in the air recently when it comes to these A listers’ ‘dos.
English singer and songwriter Lily Allen has been rocking a chic, blonde pixie cut for quite some time now, but just yesterday, the star joined the ranks of Rih and Emrata with a major hair transformation that has fans everywhere doing a double—maybe even triple—take.
Lily Allen’s Mermaid-Inspired Mane
This week, Allen swapped her short, blondish-pink strands for a luscious, Little Mermaid–inspired installation of fiery red extensions, and honestly, we’re obsessed. New York-based hairstylist, Hair By Ester, was the mastermind behind this incredible transformation, and even documented the process on her TikTok account, explaining that, “When Lily Allen hits you in the DMS, asking for a custom Ktip install with a custom color, you’ve got to answer.”
Ester explained that she and Allen had a virtual consult for the singer’s new look, and Allen originally wanted extensions to her shoulders. But after seeing the lengthy extensions in action, she knew she wanted waist-length strands instead. After dying Lily’s natural hair the Ariel red she desired, Ester began what would become an 11-hour extension installation process. “I don’t think either of us were prepared for the intensity or complexity of this install,” Ester explained. “It was probably the most complex install I’ve done to date due to her really short pixie crop and the really dense, thick hair that she has.”
But, despite the difficulty, the results were incredible, as Allen’s waist-skimming red ‘do looks so natural, you can barely even tell she started the day with a pixie. While many stars are going blonde or auburn for winter, we applaud Allen for embracing her inner Disney princess with this gorgeous red transformation.
