The word “updo” probably conjures visions of black tie dress codes, fancy gowns and equally intricate hairstyles to match. But in the week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, when you’re more about sweatpants than satin, an updo is probably the last thing on your mind. Megan Fox is here to encourage you to take a break from your topknots and messy buns with her cheekily titled “hungover updo,” an upswept style that bridges the gap between formal and fun.
Fox wore the effortlessly glam twist on a French twist to the legendary Kardashian-Jenner Christmas Eve party, and it was notable for a few reasons. Firstly, Fox generally wears her hair down; we rarely see her with it pinned up, especially since she debuted her “red velvet” bob in September. Her hair has definitely grown out a bit, as there’s a touch of dark root peeking through the vibrant crimson color and more than enough hair for hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos to sweep up into an elegant but unfussy style. Fox’s hair was pulled up and pinned into a loose twist, with a few tendrils pulled out near her neck and around her face; with a bit of practice, you could probably whip up a similar one yourself! It’s formal enough to be paired with a gown, but you could also sleep in it and rock it with your PJs in the morning and it would look just as good.
