Mixing These 2 Products Makes an Amazing La Mer Dupe

Amazon reviews can provide some seriously good feedback and, if you look long enough, there’s also some skin-care hacks in the mix.

“I had read that a La Mer dupe could be made by using this cream and The Ordinary Marine Hyaluronics ($9), which is an inexpensive, but amazing moisturizing serum with a water-like texture,” posted one 62-year-old reviewer, regarding the purchase of the iconic Nivea crème ($14).

The provided “hack” for the two affordable products: Mixing the two at night to the tune of “a swipe of Nivea with 2–3 drops of the serum.” (Fun fact: The Nivea crème formulation is 100-plus years old.)

“I wake up with no crepe under my eyes and a plump, moisturized soft texture,” the reviewer shared. “In the morning, I use the Nivea cream as a moisturizer by itself. I usually use a combination of high-end products (prescription tretinoin, for example) and less-expensive products, like The Ordinary, for my skin care—and this blows the high-end moisturizers out of the water. I also use the Nivea on my hands, elbows, knees, etc. It’s so inexpensive, I can use it as a body cream too. For reference, I’m 62 years old and to have no crepe under or around my eyes. [It] is amazing.”

One other review also gave rave remarks for the highly rated crème, and high hopes for the hack as well.

“I would have saved a TON of money if I tried this first. I have normal-dry skin and in the winter, of course, I need extra help. I’ve gone through so many night moisturizers, masks, treatments and spent so much money…only to find that this one works beautifully. It’s thick so I will tell you to do the La Mer thing…I wake up every morning to a skin that looks like I used a hydrating mask. I wake with a healthy, bright, nourished skin.”
