It’s been two long years since we’ve last gotten to cover the best beauty looks at the Golden Globes. The award show has faced multiple controversies in recent years, including a 2021 revelation that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association — the former voting body of the awards — had no Black members; allegations of pay-to-play awards for celebrities and movie studios; and an accusation of sexual harassment against former HFPA president Philip Berk. The Globes may be suffering from a more-than-dinged reputation, but new owner Dick Clark Productions (they of Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper’s CNN New Year’s Eve, for one) is determined to bring the awards show back from the brink, with a brand-new voting body in charge of handing out awards. This year, the Globes will return to television, bringing the attendant red carpet and gussied-up celebrities along with it.
“Barbie” leads the nomination pool for films with nine nods, while “Oppenheimer” snagged a very respectable eight. On the TV side, “Succession” and “The Bear” took the first and second slots, with multiple actors nominated from each show.
